In 2007 I completed a Diploma of Remedial Massage at Sydney's Nature Care College along with a number of additional certifications. Now with 10 years of clinical experience under my belt and the knowledge gained during my Bachelor of Nursing, I believe the treatments I provide approach the body as a whole, tracing discomfort back to it's original source, addressing both the cause and relieving the symptoms.
After struggling with ongoing back and neck pain caused by poor posture, old sports injuries and the ware and tear of being a massage therapist. I discovered Pilates as a way of finding sustainable relief from pain & a greater muscular strength & balance. In 2014/2015 I obtained my Pilates certification with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute. In the U.K. I worked with a wonderful fitness company operating out of community halls within the local area and catering for people ranging from 25-90 years old.
Then last year, much to my excitement, my husband and I moved to New Zealand. I spent a year working at Bodyneed Sports Clinic in Ponsonby as a senior therapist & Pilates instructor. There I learnt a lot about working with a variety of athletes and discovered the benefits of combining my qualifications.
Our recent move to Christchurch has been a real breathe of fresh air and I look forward to establishing roots here.
Massage therapists concentrate on soft tissues of the body, such as muscles and tendons. Massage therapy does not involve bone/spine manipulation or deep work within the joints. We work on softening and lengthening painful, stiff or compacted feeling muscles which then improves range of motion and minimises pain levels.
