Acute Concussion Clinic
Whilst Motus offers concussions services at all our clinics, during the winter sports season we operate an acute multidisciplinary concussion clinic out of Motus Sportshub, specifically to support our sporting community.. The acute clinic aims to see patients within the first few days following a concussion to establish an appropriate plan to aid your recovery.
The initial screening involves a joint appointment with a sports doctor and physiotherapist. The sports doctor will confirm the diagnosis, assess your capacity for work or school, and may refer for imaging if indicated. The physiotherapy assessment will involve a discussion about your symptoms and any further specialised testing.
Ongoing Management
Throughout your recovery, you will be managed by a physiotherapist and/or a sports doctor as appropriate. This ensures continuous monitoring and adjustment of your treatment plan to facilitate optimal healing.
Importance of Proper Recovery
Proper recovery from a concussion is crucial because it allows the brain to heal and reduces the risk of long-term complications. Engaging in a structured rehabilitation program can significantly improve outcomes and support a safe return to daily activities.
