Hand Therapy can provide expert treatment for fingers, thumbs, hands, wrists, forearms and elbows.
Hand and upper limb injuries, if not thoroughly treated, can lead to long-term impacts on daily life as well as enjoyment of sports.
Conditions we treat include: sprains, strains, dislocations, fractures, repetitive strain injuries. Additionally, we treat nerve compression conditions such as carpal tunnel, and other chronic conditions such as arthritis.
Firstly, Motus Health hand therapists are physiotherapists with sports backgrounds, who have significant expertise in treating sports-related hand injuries. They hold post-graduate qualifications in sports physiotherapy and hand therapy, and are registered with Hand Therapy New Zealand, the governing body that furthers professional status of practitioners.
Additionally, because our hand therapists are also fully qualified sports physiotherapists, they will take a holistic view of your injury not just focussing on your current injury but how this affects your entire upper limb. Our sports hand therapists understand the increased requirements for a return to sport and ensure you as a whole are ready to return to sport, not just your injury.
At our clinics we offer a wide range of off-the-shelf splints, and we can fabricate a customised splint as necessary. Accident-related injuries from the elbow down will often qualify for ACC assistance towards treatment and cost of splinting, when performed by a hand therapist.
If you’ve injured your hand, wrist, forearm or elbow, we can assist with your rehabilitation from acute injury right through to returning to sport. You can book directly with one of our hand therapists without the need for a GP referral.
