Alan Robertson

An advocate for his patients as they navigate the health services. His assessments are key to the directions he takes his patients.

About

A BSc Hons Physiotherapy graduate of The University of Northumbria in the UK, Alan’s focus on musculoskeletal physiotherapy for more than 20 years has taken him to many parts of the world. He has worked with Royalty in Southeast Asia, and elite sportspeople in the UK and New Zealand. He is a highly experienced medical physio who can manage complex patients with complex needs. His Postgraduate Certificates in counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy, and brief solution focus therapy allow him to draw down on a range of experience and concepts in his assessment and review process. Alan’s current focus is chronic pain which has been a slow and steady labour of love over the last 10 years. He has studied complimentary fields of therapy that enable the navigation of ‘yellow flags’ (psychological and sociological barriers) that hamper the standard medical rehabilitation model.

Likes

I really enjoy learning from my patients and colleagues and am committed to reciprocating this relationship.

Living Active

I am growing into the role of dog walking; I enjoy a weekly run/walk around a football field with my veteran teammates. I enjoy discovering new activities and places to go in and around Christchurch with my wife and two teenage boys.
